The governing bodies of The Community of Saints Church of England Federation and Church of England School of the Resurrection have agreed to begin a formal consultation on a proposal to federate our schools under a single governing body from 1 September 2026.
The proposal has been developed following a period of informal discussion and exploration between the schools, supported by Manchester City Council and the Diocese of Manchester.
We believe that federation offers an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between our schools, share expertise and resources, enhance opportunities for pupils and staff, and secure long-term benefits for each school community while preserving the unique identity, ethos and character of each individual school.

The consultation period will run from 3 June 2026 until 13 July 2026. During this time, we encourage all parents and carers to read the proposal and share their views.
The proposal document includes details of consultation meetings, answers to frequently asked questions and information about how written representations can be submitted to the governing body.
No final decision has yet been made. The purpose of this consultation is to seek and consider the views of stakeholders before the governing bodies decide whether to proceed with the proposal.
We are pleased to inform you that, following the decision of the Governing Bodies, St James’, St Philip’s, and the C of E School of the Resurrection will officially form the Community of Saints C of E Federation from 1 September 2026.
This is an exciting step forward for our three schools and reflects the successful partnership we have built over the past year. The federation will provide greater opportunities for collaboration while ensuring that each school retains its own unique identity and continues to serve its community.
