At St Philip’s Primary School, it is our priority to make music a great learning experience. We encourage children to participate and to express themselves by teaching music skills. Music helps children to increase their self-confidence and it allows them to appreciate the different variety of rhythm and composition. Children are taught the technical vocabulary and we encourage them to discuss music using the terms that have been learnt in lessons.
As a school, we use The Music Express Scheme to support teaching, learning and assessment. This Scheme provides a sequence of lessons that help children adapt and gain new musical knowledge. Music Express is topic-based and interlinks with the curriculum taught in school.
